ISB is able to support a managed number of students mild, moderate and intensive learning needs. Our team of highly trained and experienced support teachers provide in-class and small group support targeting individualized goals. They also collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure that students receive differentiated instruction and accommodations to maximize their learning. ISB has an Elementary Intensive Needs program which serves students with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities (e.g. Down’s Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, etc.) who require a highly individualized education that focuses on developing independence and life skills. Students are integrated into our regular ISB classrooms and activities to the greatest extent that it is appropriate. The class is taught by a highly trained special educator and assistants and supported by other related professionals such as Speech Language Pathologists, School Psychologists and Occupational Therapists.

ICS has a life skills program for students of middle and high school age. A special education teacher and a teacher assistant teach core subjects to a small group of students who join their age mates in specials such as PE, art, music, etc. ICS offers a special education program for elementary age students in which they are taught core subjects and, when possible, join their age mates for specials.

We are an inclusive school and can cater to all abilities and needs, striving to offer our learners the individual and personal support that will enable them to exceed their expectations in anything they choose to do. We believe that it is our warm community feel, alongside our relentless support for children’s academic, social and personal growth, that makes us special. We can offer additional support from the school Learning Support Team. This support can take many forms including: early intervention programmes, in class support, out of class small group or 1:1 interventions, full time 1:1 Learning Suport Specialist help, alternative pathways and curriculums through programmes, such as ASDAN. We can also facilitate within school out reach therapy for OT, Speech and Language, Counselling, Play Therapy, Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists
